Governor Northam indicates added restrictions were based on an emotional

response he had from seeing a story (I guess it has to be the story from El Paso).

first - please don't take this as criticism BECAUSE he's a democrat. this is simply our governor doing his work and i'm trying to make sense of it

The quote i'm sharing is a snippet from a bigger press conference that I watched. In other parts of the presser he discusses other things like numbers and such that, taken as a whole, the measures seemed more reasonably derived. However, he did make the quote he then posted. What puzzles me is why he would then advertise THIS quote as the reason restrictions were handed down. Is he thinking that the masses will be more accepting of the measures because of the thought of the mobilization of mobile morgues in El Paso? I really don't think the "masses" are the ones paying attention to these pressers. if you're Governor - why print this as THE reason? Wouldn't you somehow tie Virginia's numbers to recent numbers from el paso that would show we're headed the same direction?

It pained me to see mobile morgues outside of hospitals because there’s no place to put the dead—I refuse to let that happen in Virginia.
That's why we are taking action now to stop the spread and prevent more deaths from this virus.
